Welcome from the Dean

We are delighted in your interest in graduate studies at Troy University. Troy University’s teaching excellence dates back to its founding in 1887 as Troy Normal School. From the outset, the institution quickly earned a reputation for innovation and accessibility. The first master’s degree was awarded in 1958. Today Troy University is a level V doctoral institution. Since its beginning, the University has continued to meet the needs of graduate students offering 24 masters, 7 Education Specialists and the Doctor of Nursing Practice programs. A wide range of graduate degrees and certificate programs are offered in the colleges of education, business, the arts and sciences, communications and fine arts, and health and humans services.

Graduate study provides you with the opportunity to further develop professional skills and academic competencies that promote intellectual inquiry across a life-time. Graduate programs are offered in a variety of formats, including face-to-face, web-enhanced, and completely online classes.

Graduate studies are pursued by approximately 7,500 graduate students located in Alabama and across the United States and overseas. The Graduate School webpages provide information and resources that will assist you from the admission process through graduation. I would encourage you to take advantage of the wonderful resources available through the Graduate School and Troy Library services. I hope that your graduate experience at Troy University is both rich and rewarding.

Sincerely,
