TROY — Troy University's Continuing Education Center is starting a new online certification program in cyber security this fall that will cover the fundamentals of network security, protecting electronic assets, preventing attacks and ensuring customer privacy.
The four-course program will explore the latest research and best practices in the cyber security field, and is taught by professional instructors. The courses will cover a broad range of network security topics including cryptography, vulnerability of web based applications and malware.
“This certification opens the door to numerous opportunities in the cyber security field, which is poised to become a critical field in the years to come," said Dr. Bill Zhong, chair of the Department of Computer Science at TROY. “This program teaches you the skills necessary to protect valuable data and trade secrets."
The program will be presented in four, four-week sessions and is tailored to meet the needs of professionals working in business, law enforcement, education, hospitals, banking and systems analysts. In addition to the online course work, a voluntary hands-on lab will be offered the third Saturday of each session at the University's Troy, Ala., campus giving participants a chance to apply their new skills and knowledge.
Participants who complete all four courses will receive a TROY Cyber Security Certificate and transcript of courses completed.
The first course session will start Sept. 2, and registration is open now.
