Phenix City Mayor Eddie Lowe to address TROY graduates in Columbus

PHENIX CITY — Eddie Lowe, the Mayor of Phenix City, will deliver the keynote address to Troy University graduates on Friday, Jan. 24, during the joint fall commencement ceremony for the Phenix City Campus and the Columbus/Ft. Benning Site.

The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. EST inside the Columbus Civic Center. About 259 students received degrees this fall at the Phenix City Campus and the Columbus/Ft. Benning Site. About 100 will participate in Friday's ceremony.

Lowe became Mayor of Phenix City in November 2012. He is also the Senior Vice President of CB&T of East Alabama, responsible for the operation of all branches.

Lowe is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he played football for three years under Coach Bear Bryant. He later joined the Canadian Football League where he played nine years for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. He was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1994.

An active member of the community, Lowe is a chaplain and volunteer coach for Central High School, and has been involved in the United Way and various local boards. He served more than 10 years on the Phenix City Board of Education.
