Former Dothan Mayor Pat Thomas to address TROY graduates

DOTHAN - Former Dothan Mayor Pat Thomas will deliver the keynote address to Troy University graduates during the Spring Commencement ceremony for the Dothan Campus on Friday, May 16.

The ceremony will be held starting at 10 a.m. inside the Dothan Civic Center. About 153 students will receive degrees this spring at the Dothan Campus.

Thomas served as Mayor of Dothan from 2005-2009. Prior to that, he served on the Dothan City Commission from 1997-2001.

Since 1983 Thomas has served as president of his family business, Dothan Awning Company, a home improvements and construction company with a service area that includes Alabama, Georgia and Florida. He is a licensed Alabama general contractor, homebuilder, and a certified contractor in Florida. Thomas was selected as Small Business Person of the Year in 1995, and again in 2010.

Over the last 30 years, Thomas has served in leadership roles for a variety of non-profits and service organizations including the Wiregrass United Way, the Wiregrass Rehabilitation Center and the Dothan Rotary Club. Thomas was a member of Class XXII of Leadership Alabama, and currently serves on the Regional Council of Leadership Alabama.

Thomas and his wife, Cindy, have two adult daughters and four grandchildren.
