TROY – Troy University's School of Accountancy will play host to the 23rd annual Accountancy Day program on Sept. 4 on the Troy Campus.
The event will begin with a "Practitioners in the Classroom" session at 8:30 a.m. in Room 129, Bibb Graves Hall, where TROY students will have the opportunity to hear from professionals in the field. A "Meet the Firms" browse session follows from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Bibb Graves Atrium.
An Awards luncheon will wrap up the day's activities, beginning at noon in the Trojan Center Ballrooms. During the program, students will be recognized and honored for their accomplishments. In addition, the Outstanding Professor in Accounting, as voted on by the students, will be announced. Three professionals – two alumni and one non-alumnus supporter, will be inducted into the Accounting Hall of Honor and the Young Alumnus of the Year will be awarded.
"Accountancy Day is the best day of the year for the School of Accountancy because our students are able to hear about what is going on in the real world of accounting in the 'Practitioners in the Classroom' sessions, and our students have a chance to talk one-on-one with firm members about career opportunities in accounting at the browse sessions," said Dr. Kaye Sheridan, director of the School of Accountancy. "However, the best part of the day is the awards ceremony which recognizes the hard work and dedication of our accounting students, alumni, faculty and supporters."
