Guide to the TSUD History/Sociology Club Records

Record Group 053

Date Span ca. 1998
Extent 1 scrapbook

Historical Note:  The History and Sociology Club was a student organization at Troy State University-Dothan during the mid-1990s.  History professor Dr. Robert Saunders created the club to promote the history department.  Club members met monthly and organized fund raising activities, took trips to historical locations, visited museums, and discussed topics relating to history and sociology.

Scope/Content:
This single spiral-bound scrapbook records activities of the Club during ca. 1998, including 2 car wash fund raisers and a "road trip" to visit the Alabama Department of Archives and History, Old Alabama Town, and the Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery.  The scrapbook provides an excellent example of the aesthetics of "scrapbooking" that was faddish in the late 1990s and early 2000s.  Compiler of the scrapbook is unknown.

Provenance:
Received from Dr. Robert Saunders office

Preferred Citation:
TSUD History / Sociology Club Records, RG053.  Wiregrass Archives, Troy University Dothan Campus, Dothan, AL.
