[N.B. Dr. Martin T. Olliff, using the passage, "There is no foundation for the rumor that this company has been ordered to Vicksburg. The Columbus Artillery left for that place last Tuesday," and conducting research on the "Columbus Artillery" in the Official Records of the War of the Rebellion, concludes that Scarborough wrote this between late April and late June 1863]
