Biographical Sketch:  Ruth Law Stewart (February 12, 1917 – August 1994) trained as a nurse at Frasier-Ellis Hospital and Nurse Training College, Dothan, AL, graduating on May 14, 1941. Her parents Robert Lee and Mattie Lee (Crumpler) Stewart, named her for the then-famous aviatrix Ruth Law.  She graduated from New Brockton High School in 1937 and that summer enrolled in the Frasier-Ellis nursing program.  One month after graduating, she married Art Lund (d. October 1986).  They had four children:  Nita Sue (August 1942, St. Louis, MO), Nels Stewart (January 1945, Kansas City, KS), twins Pamela Jane and Patricia Ann (December 1949, Kansas City, KS).  The family moved to Tampa in July 1957.  Stewart never worked as a registered nurse but continued to take classes and kept her license current. Scope / Content Note:  Contains items pertaining to Ms. Stewart's education at the New Brockton High School and Frasier-Ellis Hospital Nursing Training School.  Includes photographs of Ruth Stewart Lund and her extended family from 1917 to 1986, New Brockton (AL) High School autograph book 1937 w/ one entry from student nurse in 1941, memo books of original poetry (including one about being a student nurse), and one letter with photo of 1986 reunion of the nursing class of 1941.

Provenance:  Ms. Sue Guiterrez and Ms. Pam Salerno, Ms. Stewart's daughters living in Tampa, Florida, mailed the material to the Wiregrass Archives after seeing a posting on Facebook and exchanging emails with Dr. M. Olliff.
