Biographical Sketch: Mark Fischer practiced urology in the Dothan area since receiving his medical degree from the University of Alabama in 1979. Dr. Fischer was born in Minot, North Dakota, where he attended high school. He was attending college at the University of Colorado, joined the army in January 1970, and served in the Vietnam War. Fischer is an avid military and World War 2 era avocational historian. He has been interviewed about his military experience multiple times by students in the Dothan area.
Scope / Content: Twenty-five reels of 16mm films from Castle Films, an early producer of 8mm and 16mm movies for home projection, a 1948 16 mm projector, a WWII era gas mask, a silk map of the border between Germany and Belgium.
Film titles include "News Parade of the Year," 1938-51; two compilations of news parades, 1939-40 and 1943-48; five World War 2 news compilations; and four cartoons.
Provenance: All films and projector owned by Dr. Fischer's father and passed to him.
