Love Around the World
A wedding is a marriage ceremony, usually with its accompanying festivities. Throughout my lifetime, I have attended many weddings. Growing up and going to weddings, I quickly learned that part of what makes a wedding so special is the traditions and rituals that follow along with it. Over centuries weddings have been performed, and some tradition still stays alive today, created many years ago. Throughout the research, I have learned that some rules and rituals still stand today in other countries and religions.
For my thesis, I researched the Chinese, Indian, and Jewish cultures and how they perform weddings, and what it takes to get married in those cultures. From this research, I have learned that although many of these ceremonies are so different, they find common ground in the fact that love is sacred and hard to come by.
I created three different digital illustrations representing brides from Chinese, Indian and Jewish cultures with my project. In my pieces, I made a bride based on the information I researched. Each bride has a personality that shines and shows their culture and educational information to learn about the culture and how weddings are performed in that culture.
