Special Forums, Program, and Conferences
Troy University hosts many visiting High School Leadership programs. In addition we conduct or host many leadership programs, workshops, seminars, short courses and retreats. Here are some of them:
- Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) forum. Each May one student leader from each high school in Alabama attends the forum which meets for a three-day week-end on the Troy campus. HOBY seeks to motivate and empower individuals to make a positive difference within our global society through understanding and action based on effective and compassionate leadership and focuses on the following core values: volunteerism, excellence, organization integrity, diversity, innovative thinking, community partnership and lifelong learning. - Governor’s Youth Leadership Forum (YLF) for High School Students with Disabilities. An innovative, intensive, five-day career leadership training program held on campus in June each year for high school juniors and seniors with disabilities; participants come from throughout the state of Alabama. Program activities focus on career planning, leadership development, technology resources and information on disability history to assist young people with disabilities in reaching their maximum potential. - African American Leadership Conference. Each February Troy University and the City of Troy, Alabama host a conference for
leaders from Southeastern Alabama. Nationally and regionally known experts focus on
improving leadership skills, civic involvement and entrepreneurship. For more information

- Alabama Lions High School Leadership Forum. The ALHSLF is a three day leadership forum for High School students (grades 10-12) from Alabama. The Forum begins at 3 p.m. on Friday and ends at noon on Sunday. Included in the program are keynote speakers on Leadership topics, hands on leadership exercises lead by college leadership students, physical challenges at Camp Butter & Egg, group skits, fun, fellowship and great food. Selection of outstanding delegates and college scholarships awarded to elite delegates. Three days of intense leadership training that delegates will not soon forget. - Troy University also hosts and conducts many other programs including:
