Partnership Overview

A new scholarship at Troy University will help those who help others earn a college degree.

The First Responders and Family Scholarship will provide a 10 percent tuition scholarship and waive application fees for all active serving fire, emergency and police employees and their families, including spouses and dependents.

The scholarship extends to the following actively serving First Responders:

  • Law Enforcement Officers
  • Paramedics
  • Emergency Medical Technicians EMT)
  • Firefighters
  • Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

  • 10% tuition scholarship for in-class and online programs (excluding Doctoral level programs) (Effective April 1, 2024)
  • Application fee waived (Effective April 1, 2024)
  • Free unofficial transcript evaluation
  • Please note: The tuition scholarship is effective for enrollment in future terms and will not be applied retroactively. The tuition scholarship may not be combined with another institutional scholarship or those using tuition assistance.

Steps to receiving your partnership benefits

APPLICATION FEE WAIVER (for new students only):

  • For new students, you will need to complete the admission process before registering for classes.
  • Once you have registered for at least one class for the upcoming term or semester, you will need to send an email to Carmen Foster at fosterc@troy.edu from your work email address with the following information: 

    Student Name:

    Student ID Number:
    Employee or Volunteer Card:
    The required Partnership Code:
  • Verification may also be completed by emailing an employee or volunteer card from your organization. Family members using the scholarship should have the first responder email the above information on their behalf or email a copy of the first responders’ employee or volunteer card showing active status. 

FAQs

  • When can I apply to Troy University using these partner benefits?
    The First Responder Scholarship was established on April 1, 2024. All active serving fire, emergency and police employees and their families, including spouses and dependents are welcome to apply for admission at any time following that date. 

  • When will I start to receive the 10% tuition scholarship?

    Your tuition scholarship will begin for the term in which you notify TROY of your partnership eligibility. For the scholarship to be applied, you must submit the request TROY within the FIRST WEEK OF CLASS. Credit will not be given for courses taken before the application of the partnership scholarship to a student’s account.
