Phenix City Campus Scholarships

Troy University has an established and growing number of corporate partners that they have joined with to provide opportunities for its employees to achieve personal and professional growth through TROY’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The Corporate Achiever Scholarship is offered to the full-time employees, contractors, spouse, or dependent of a full-time employee of one of TROY’s corporate partners. Award Details:

  1. Scholarship equal to one three hour course awarded after completing first term in academic good standing
  2. Scholarship equal to final six hours of TROY degree (Graduate recipients)
  3. Scholarship equal to final nine hours of TROY degree (Undergraduate recipients)
  4. Includes established partnership discounts

Eligibility requirements for all students:

  1. Submit application for admission
  2. Submit Corporate Achiever Scholarship Application prior to the start of their first term at Troy University
  3. Enroll in the term (9-week) format (Online and In-Class: Global Campus, Troy Online, Montgomery, Dothan, and Phenix City)
  4. Not receive other institutional-funded scholarship during the time of attendance (including Troy University’s employee tuition assistance program) The TROY Corporate Achiever Scholarship can be used along with the established partnership benefits. Please see specific partnerships for current discount rates.
  5. Organization must be a current, official partner with Troy University
  6. Applicant/Student must be a full-time employee, contractor, spouse, or dependent of full-time employee associated with an approved partner

Additional requirements for students seeking a bachelor’s degree:

  1. Be unconditionally admitted to the University and have the following:
    For Freshman – high school grade point average of at least 2.50
    For Transfers – cumulative grade point average of at least 2.50
    For GED Recipients – minimum score of 550 if taken prior to Jan. 1, 2014; minimum of 150 and provide proof of their GED diploma if taken after Jan 1, 2014.
  2. Successfully complete 18 credits per year, beginning at the time of enrollment and ending no later than five years from the start date.

Additional requirements for students seeking a graduate degree:

  1. Be unconditionally admitted to a graduate degree program. If necessary for the field of study, the applicant must be admitted to the program.
  2. Successfully complete 15 semester credits per year, beginning at the time of enrollment and ending no later than two years from the start date.

Application and selection procedures:

Incoming students must apply for the scholarship prior to the start of their first term at Troy University. Priority for awards will be based on the date application packages are completed (transcripts, letter of recommendation if applicable, acceptable standardized test score, etc.). Scholarships recipients will be issued certificates indicating their awards.

Application for TROY Corporate Achiever Scholarship

In an effort to make college more affordable and to encourage students to persist through their academic programs, Troy University is making 1000 Horizon Scholarships available to new students who meet the eligibility and selection criteria described below. Eight hundred scholarships will be awarded to students seeking bachelor’s degrees, and two hundred will be awarded to students seeking graduate degrees. The scholarship is available to students beginning a degree program during the 2017/2018 academic year. Students seeking associate degrees or certificates are not eligible.

Application for TROY Horizon Scholarship

A Transfer Merit Scholarship is awarded in the fall to students with a 3.5 GPA or higher and would provide a $3,000 scholarship, while a Transfer Achievement Scholarship for $2,000 is available to students with a 3.25 GPA. This scholarship will only be available to those students who have completed at least 45 hours of transferrable academic credit (non-technical) coursework.

In addition to all Alabama Community College transfer students, students transferring from the following institutions will also be eligible for the award: Bainbridge College (Ga.), Central Texas College (TX), Chipola College (Fla.), Columbus Technical College (Ga.), Gulf Coast State College (Fla.), Northwest Florida State College, Pensacola State College (Fla.), and Pikes Peak Community College (CO).

Application for Transfer Merit and Transfer Achievement Scholarship

Eligibility: Current Phenix City student

Requirements: Member of the Doris Weaver Girls Club with at least 3 years proven attendance in either the summer program or the after school program. 2.5 GPA. An essay on why the applicant is deserving of the scholarship. Please include in your resume a list of volunteer work and community involvement, along with a list of extracurricular activities. Letter of recommendation from the director of the Doris Weaver Girls Club to confirm membership and attendance.

Awarded: Fall and Spring semesters

Number Awarded: 1 per year

Deadline to apply: June 30th

Value: $1250 per semester ($2500 per year)

Eligibility: Recipient must be a Phenix City campus student majoring in Education (undergraduate or graduate) and in their internship program during the funding of this scholarship.

Requirements: Minimum GPA 2.75 for undergraduate (3.0 GPA for graduate). Must complete a short essay on why the applicant is deserving of the scholarship and describe their need for financial assistance. Must submit a letter of recommendation from a Troy University Phenix City campus Instructor who has taught the applicant. Must submit a copy of Current Academic Evaluation with GPA, Courses, and Grades.

Deadline to apply: Last day in July for Fall internship, Last day in October for Spring internship

Number Awarded: 2 per year

Value: $500

Eligibility: Current Undergraduate Phenix City Campus students

Requirements: Students cannot currently be receiving any other scholarship funded by Troy University. Must complete a short essay on why the applicant is deserving of the scholarship. Letter of recommendation from current full-time faculty member in their Academic Department (letter must be on Troy University letterhead). Undergraduate students must have completed a minimum of 12 hours at Troy University and have a minimum 3.0 institutional GPA.

Stipulations:

1. Scholarship must be used in four consecutive terms
2. Scholarship will not bridge two separate degree programs
3. Students can only be awarded the scholarship one time
4. Scholarship will only cover Phenix City Campus classes

Number Awarded: As determined each term by the Phenix City Scholarship Committee

Deadline to apply: Ask Phenix City Financial Aid Counselor for the deadline for each term

Value: $900 per term (max $3,600) for undergraduate students

Eligibility: First time Troy University students (entering freshmen, adult learners, transfer students) from Alabama.

Requirements: Scholarship applicants or their parents are required to be paid members of the Troy University Alumni Association or a member of one of its chapters and have been so for at least one full year prior to the scholarship application deadline. One individual in the applicant’s immediate family must possess a Troy University car tag. Entering freshmen are required to have a 3.0 high school GPA and be able to demonstrate a record of community service. Adult learners/transfer students are required to have a 3.0 cumulative GPA on all college work attempted.

The Troy University Military and Family Scholarship has been established to recognize the service of U.S. Active Military, Reserve and National Guard members by offering a scholarship to the service member, their spouse and/or dependent children.

The Scholarship reduces tuition to $250 per credit hour at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for this scholarship, the student must meet the following:

  • Must be currently serving in the active or reserve component of the US military

or

  • Must be the spouse or dependent child of a currently serving service member, including National Guard and Reserves.
  • Enrollment Status: Applicant or Enrolled
  • Degree program level: Associate, Undergraduate, or Graduate.
  • Service members need not submit an application for the scholarship (the military TA form will serve as your application).  Members who have exhausted their military TA funding or decide not to utilize TA funding, should request the scholarship via email to fosterc@troy.edu. All eligibility requirements and award details for the TROY Military & Family Scholarship apply to service members. 
  • Scholarship Application must be received 2 weeks prior to the start of the Term or Semester for which the dependent is applying for the scholarship. 
  • Must submit completed Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status form to the Scholarship Coordinator no later than two (2) weeks prior to the start of the semester/term. Re-validation will be required each year not later than July, 31 to maintain scholarship. Download "Request for Verification of Spouse or Dependent Status" Form
  • Maintain a 2.0 Cumulative GPA at the Undergraduate level or a 3.0 Cumulative GPA at the Graduate level throughout the degree program.

Award Details:

  • This scholarship cannot be used in conjunction with any other scholarship or tuition assistance awarded by Troy University, VA, or State benefits (excluding 1606 & 1607).
  • Amount of award will be dependent on the number of credit hours the scholarship recipient registers for each semester or term.
  • Amount of award will not exceed the credit hour requirements of the student’s initial program. Should the student change their degree program, they will be held to their original degree programs credit hour requirement.
  • Scholarship can only be used toward one degree at each level (one associate’s, one bachelor’s degree, and one master’s degree).
