Economic Impact Studies

Whether a company is in the market for a start –up in your community or to expand and relocate, there are always questions to be answered. Along with new, identifiable jobs comes the question, “Is this move right for our area?” The answer to this question is essential in developing incentives and is prevalent in Economic Development . Troy University’s Center for International Business and Economic Development (CIBED) can offer you a hand in this endeavor. Troy’s CIBED has the ability to conduct an Economic Impact Analysis covering a number of areas. An Economic Impact Analysis discusses the output and value that will be added to the community in the case that an industry/commercial development decides to locate in your area. Troy’s CIBED can provide Economic Impact Analysis in the following areas:

  • New Industry
  • Existing Industry
  • Exiting Industry
  • New Legislation
  • New Taxes
    • Sales
    • Property
    • Ad Valorem
    • Other Taxes
  • Removal of Tax
  • New Subsidies
  • Removal of Subsidies
  • Laws
    • Endangered Species
    • New Regulations
  • Natural Resources Valuation

Feasibility Studies

Troy University's CIBED has the ability to complete two different types of feasibility studies.  The first and most common is a cost/benefit analysis.  This procedure is used to determine the benefits and/or savings that are expected from a candidate system and compare them with costs. If benefits outweigh costs, then the decision is made to design and implement the system.  The second type of study is the time-based study:  This type of analysis is used to determine the time required to achieve a return on investments.

Economic Forecasting

When it comes to planning for the future, we are often left wondering just how the economy will be in 5, 10, 30 years. Troy University’s CIBED can offer some guidance. Although forecasting can never be guaranteed on the basis that it is a prediction, Troy University has some the most educated economists and all the elements in place to generate a reliable projection. The projections can be made in great detail or may be very general on all three levels, National, State, and Local.

“Ask the Expert”

In the instance that you have an economic question that cannot be answered in the above areas, Troy University’s CIBED’s Economists will gladly answer any question or concern that you may have by presenting a previous testimony or an educated economic, unbiased opinion.
