TROY's home for STEM studies

The Troy University Board of Trustees approved the creation of a new School of Science and Technology (SST) on December 13, 2012.  This school, which is comprised of five departments, Biological and Environmental Sciences; Chemistry and Physics; Mathematics; Geospatial Informatics; and Computer Science, is housed within the College of Arts and Sciences.  The mission of the School of Science and Technology is to bring agency to the teaching of science, research in pure and applied sciences, and in its application to industry.
 
The SST faculty is dedicated to being at the forefront of teaching and learning and fostering research and discovery. Additionally, the proposed public-private partnerships represent a tremendous opportunity for private industry to work alongside the school in research and development and workforce development in the region.

TROY’s Department of Geospatial Informatics equips students with the understanding of mathematics, science and engineering principles in order to collect, analyze and interpret data relating to the earth’s surface. This field greatly influences the creation of digital maps as well as the maintenance of natural landscapes and the creation of city infrastructure.
